Eating and Drinking

You have the choice of cooking on an outdoor BBQ pit, a wood burning range or a more instant gas hob. Pots and pans are all provided, likewise are utensils, crockery and cutlery.

We appreciate that you have better things to be doing on your holiday then trailing around shopping for food so we are more than happy to deliver local produce from Cocklakes Farm Shop twice a week. All you have to do mark items on a list you will be provided with and leave them in a post box near your camp.

All you have to do mark items on a list you will be provided with and leave them in a post box near your camp. Cocklakes Farm Shop is situated on the A66 and sells dairy produce, fresh fruit and veg, bread and cakes. There is also a deli counter and an extensive butcher’s department.

Local village shops can be found in Greystoke, Hesket Newmarket and Caldbeck.

Local Pubs:

  • The Mill Inn sits at the foot of Souther Fell and Blencathra in the unspoilt village of Mungrisdale. In winter you can warm yourself by the open fire, in Summer there is a beer garden by the Gledermakin river. The menu is based on traditional Cumbrian fayre. Lunch is served from 12:00am-2:00pm. Dinner from 6:00pm -9:00pm.
  • The Boot and Shoe looks over the green in the village of Greystoke and is a 17th Century coaching inn. Food is served from 12:00am- 2:45pm and 6:00pm – 9:00pm.
  • The Old Crown is situated in the picturesque village of Hesket Newmarket and is owned by a co-operative of local people. Real Ales are served that are brewed in Hesket Newmarket Brewery, located behind the pub. Lunch is served from 12:00am-2:30pm and dinner from 6:30-9:00pm.
